If you are a beach lover and you’re planning a vacation to tropical Vietnam, you have come to the right place, as we present the top beach destinations in this tropical paradise that we call Vietnam. There are so many to choose from that we really did have to consider many factors in order to select what we believe are the top 5 beach destinations, and without further ado, here they are, in no particular order.
- Phu Quoc – This idyllic island is the largest island of Vietnam, with an area of 575 km² and a population of just over 200,000. The island is actually situated in the Gulf of Thailand, and tourism is the fastest-growing sector, with some of the best 5 star hotels Vietnam has to offer. Aside from stunning beaches, Phu Quoc National Park is in the northern part of the island, which is a beautiful area to visit if you love nature. All the beaches have the amenities you would expect, with bars and restaurants lining the roads. There is also budget accommodation and a few party boats if you fancy dancing the night away.
- Da Nang – The 4th largest city in Vietnam that sits on the western Pacific coast at the mouth of the Han River; Non Nuoc Beach is definitely the most popular and was once the main R&R venue for American GIs in the Vietnam War. Today, there are luxury hotels and resorts in abundance, with My Kae Beach to the north, which is also popular.
- Nha Trang – A large city on the southern coast of Vietnam that is well-known for scuba diving; this venue attracts many Western backpackers, and the beaches are truly stunning. Many young people choose this area because there is a vibrant nightlife, while snorkelling and scuba diving are the best in the country. Click here for tips on bareboat chartering.
- Mui Ne – Known as the resort capital of Vietnam, Mui Ne has stunning beaches with red and white sand. Ganh Beach and Suoi Nuoc Beach are the top venues, and there are bars, restaurants, hotels and resorts to accommodate the many foreign tourists that are drawn to this spectacular region. Rang Beach is another very popular venue where people flock during the summer, and if you like a busy social scene, this is the place for you.
- Con Dao Island – A former prison island, this place was remote for many years, and Dam Trau Beach is perfect for coral dives and surfing. The island is off the southern tip of Vietnam and is the ideal place for those who love a quiet, remote hideaway.
Of course, there are many other fine beaches in Vietnam, but all of the above must rank as the best that Vietnam has to offer the foreign tourist. Wherever you decide to spend your holiday, we feel sure that you will have a fantastic time.
