31 Valentines Day Poems For Friends

Inside: Fun Valentines Day poems for friends to send for Galentines and more!

Not every Valentine’s day do we have a significant other to call our valentine. I’ll be right there with you this year! Single and happy but every year I have to wonder who am I going to spend the day with? I will say, I am incredibly lucky to have a great group of friends that many people don’t have in their life. So I celebrate with all of the single ones: guys and girls alike.

We reserve a nice dinner spot, pregame with some champagne, and have a great time all together. Because the only love you really need is family and friends until just the right person comes along.

If you’re doing a gift exchange with your Valentine’s day pals this year, or want to send a Valentine to a single friend, here are some poems for you to personalize it and make it a sincere one.

A Valentine's Day card

Valentines can be tough, maybe you want to thank the friends that make being single so easy. Maybe they were there by your side through a break up. Or maybe you’re in the happiest and healthiest relationship you’ve experienced, but are thinking of your friends that aren’t quite in the same boat.

Use these poems to show gratitude or that your heart is with them today. Love is tough, but friends make it so much better!

Copy these down in a handwritten note or email or text them randomly throughout the day. They’re a great way to show how much you see them and care about them on Valentine’s day! Here are 31 Valentine’s day poems for friends.

Valentine’s Day With Friends Ideas

Spending the evening with friends this year? Me too. I’m in the boat with you but I’ve come to realize that there’s nothing that I want more than to spend a day about love with my favorite besties that I love the most. It can be fun to come up with something fun and creative to do with your friends on Valentine’s Day, so that it can be a fun and festive holiday, even without a special Valentine.

If you’re stumped for ideas of what to do with the gang, here are some of my favorite ideas!

If you’ve planned far enough in advance, book a reservation at your favorite restaurant as a friend group. If you know the servers and wait staff, it’s fun to be able to go and hang out with them on special holidays, even if they’re slammed. It’s always fun to see familiar faces celebrating.

For the 21+ crowd, there’s a fun TikTok trend that’s been going around for a couple of years. Have everyone come up with a different cocktail idea and give it a creative name. Take turns making your drinks and serving each other with a little comedy and flair.

Throw a little house party. Decorate to the nines and be as extra as possible, simply to mock the holiday if you want. Make themed snacks and beverages, and over do the pink and red themes. It’s a fun little day to just be as extravagant as you can, just for the fun of it. Have fun with it and enjoy the Valentines party with your friends.

Go somewhere different like a jazz club or go take salsa dancing lessons with everyone. You can have so much fun together doing anything and everything, so embrace the night out and do something a little crazy. You’ll thank yourself later when your stomach hurts from laughing so much with your best friends while trying to nail some dance moves.

Poems For Best Friend

Is your best friend your Valentine this year? Here are some poems to send him or her as a Valentine!
1. My Best Friend

Whenever I am lonely,
You’re always by my side,
And when I call to you for help,
You never run or hide.

You’re with me when I need you.
I hardly have to say,
“I need you now, I’m lonely.”
You brighten every day.

When shadows fall so dimly
And crickets no more hide,
I’m not afraid to slumber,
For you’ll be there by my side.

You’ll be my friend forever,
Making every day more fun,
And I’m glad that you are with me
As another day is done.

A friend is a wondrous thing to have,
An earthly prayer come true,
And daily I give thanks that I
Found such a friend in you.

2. I’ll Be There

I’ll be there
When you feel lonely and frightened,
When you need help with something,
When you feel hopeless.

I’ll be there
When you feel betrayed by someone you trusted,
When you feel broken-hearted,
When you are in difficult times.

I’ll be there
When you fall,
When you need a hug,
When you need some love.

I’ll be there.
No matter what happens,
I’ll be there.

By Nubia Valle

3. A Fried (A Valentine’s Day Poem)

A friend to light a candle
When darkness overcomes.
A friend to hold you closer
When distant thunder drums.

A friend to gently tie you
When sirens sing your name.
A friend with words to soothe you
When life’s a losing game.

A friend to cool your passions
When passions take their hold.
A friend to warm you gently
When a frozen heart’s too cold.

A friend to spread contentment
As seasons wax and wane,
Make sense of love’s confusion,
And bear life’s grief and pain.

A friend who knows this season
Of love; both yours and mine.
A friend, another reason,
To send this Valentine.

By Greenwolfe 1962

4. I Am Always There- You’re Never Alone

When you’re feeling down and blue,
And life is being cruel to you,
Just remember you’re not on your own.
I’m always there; you’re never alone.
You might not be able to see my face,
As hard as you look around the place,
But close your eyes and think of me,
And before you know it, there will be me.
Keep me in the midst of your mind,
And life will seem easier, I think you’ll find,
So when life gets too dark to bear,
Just close your eyes and I will be there.

5. Best Friend Poem

I still remember the first day we met
We were too shy to say much at all
It’s funny to think back to that time
Because now we’re having a ball!
They say that true friendship is rare
An adage that I believe to be true
Genuine friendship is something that I cherish
I am so lucky to have met you.
Our bond is extremely special
It is unique in it’s own way
We have something irreplaceable
I love you more and more each day.
We’ve been through so much together
In so little time we’ve shared
I will never forget all the moments
That you’ve shown me how much you cared.
Friends are forever
Especially the bond that you and I possess
I love your fun-filled personality
Somehow you never fail to impress.
The world could use more people like you
It would certainly be a better place
I love everything about you
You are someone I could never replace.
You are always there for me
When my spirits need a little lift
I cannot thank you enough for that
You are truly an extraordinary gift.
You are everything to me and more
I could never express that enough
Life is such a treacherous journey, and
Without you it would be even more tough.
Our story will continue to grow
With each passing day
Because I trust that with you by my side
Everything will always be Okay.
You are so dear to me
You know I will love you until the end
I will always be there for you, and
You will always (and forever) be my best friend.

By Margery Wang

6. A Friend Like You

A friend like you is like no other friend
A friend like you is a friend I’m happy to have met
A friend like you is a friend I can’t scream at or fight with
A friend like you is like having no worries in my life
A friend like you is a friend that I don’t want to lose
A friend like you is like being in comfort all day
A friend like you is a friend I always wanted
A friend like you is truly awesome
A friend like you is random and funny
A friend like you is a friend that I love to death and I will never let go
A friend like you is a friend I can tell all my secrets to
A friend like you is like the little brother I’ve always wanted
A friend like you is like the little sister I’ve always wanted
A friend like you is like having no dark days because you brighten them up
A friend like you is a friend that opens up my eyes and helps me avoid bad things
A friend like you is a friend who laughs at dumb things I say or do
A friend like you is a friend I am proud to call my best friend.

Valentine Poems For Friends

7. Laughing Along with You

A friend is someone you can count on
To tell you what you need to hear
A friend can give encouraging words
To help you get over your fears
Friends will stay right by your side
Even when others give up on you
Friends can laugh when you screw up
But you’ll be laughing along too

8. Since You’re My Friend

Valentine’s Day can be a special day
When someone really cares about you
So Valentine’s Day is more than o.k.
Since you’re my friend and I’m yours too

9. Friend,

You came in a dream, yesterday
—The first day we met
you showed me your dark workroom
off the kitchen, your books, your notebooks.

Reading our last, knowing-last letters
—the years of our friendship
reading our poems to each other,
I would start breathing again.

Yesterday, in the afternoon,
more than a year since you died,
some words came into the air.
I looked away a second,
and they were gone,
six lines, just passing through.

10. Quote

If there ever comes a day where we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.

11. Friend

If we knew each other better,
You and I and all the rest,
Seeing down beneath the surface
To the sorrows all unguessed,
We would quit our cold complaining
And a hand of trust extend,
If we knew each other better.
We would count each one a friend.

There’s no love as sweet as friendship.

13. Your Catfish Friend

“I’d love you and be your catfish
friend and drive such lonely
thoughts from your mind
and suddenly you would be
at peace,
and ask yourself, “I wonder
if there are any catfish
in this pond? It seems like
a perfect place for them.”

By Richard Brautigan

14. On Friendship

And a youth said, “Speak to us of Friendship.”
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the “nay” in your own mind, nor do you withhold the “ay.”
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

By Khalil Gibran

15. A Friend Is Like A Valentine

A friend is like a Valentine,
Heartwarming, bringing pleasure,
Connected to good feelings,
With memories to treasure.

Seeing a special Valentine
Brings happiness to stay,
And that is what you do, friend,
You brighten every day!

16. Family

We’ve known each other for so many years,
There have been laughs and of course tears,
You cheered me up, you made me doubt,
But that’s what friendship is about.
We’ve known each other for so long,
But that’s not why we get along,
It’s because all of this time,
I read your mind and you read mine.
We’ve known each other well for ages,
And our life is full of unread pages,
You’re family to me, a sister, a brother,
And yet there’s so much to discover.

17. Friendship

Friendship needs no studied phrases,
polished face, or winning wiles;
Friendship deals no lavish praises,
Friendship dons no surface smiles.
Friendship follows Nature’s diction,
Shuns the blandishments of Art,
Boldly severs truth from fiction,
Speaks the language of the heart.
Friendship favors no condition,
Scorns a narrow-minded creed,
Lovingly fulfills its mission,
Be it word or be it deed.
Friendship cheers the faint and weary,
Makes the timid spirit brave,
Warns the erring, lights the dreary,
Smooths the passage to the grave.
Friendship – pure, unselfish friendship,
All through life’s allotted span,
Nurtures, strengthens, widens, lengthens,
Man’s relationship with man.

18. My Best Friend

I’m not sure when it happened
But I’m very glad it did
You came into my life when
I really needed a friend.

The more I get to know you
The more I know myself
And this is why I’m thankful
For you are just yourself.

You and I are different
And in many ways the same
Your good ear, compassionate heart
Will always find you fame.

I promise to always be here
Forever and to the end
You are the true definition of
My Very Best Friend!

Valentine’s Day Poems For Friends

19. In Tune

I don’t remember when I first began
To call you “friend.”
One day, I only know,
The vague companionship that I’d seen grow
So imperceptibly, turned gold, and ran
In tune with all I’d thought, or dared to plan.
Since then, you’ve been to me like music, low,
Yet clear; a fire that throws its warm, bright glow
On me as on each woman, child, and man,
And common thing that lies within its rays;
You’ve been like wholesome food that stays the cry
Of hungry, groping minds; and like a star –
A self-sufficient star – you make me raise
My utmost being to a higher sky,
In tune, like you, with earth, yet wide, and far.

By Florence Steigerwalt

20. A Smile

When someone’s having a bad day,
A smile could go a long way,
So make sure to put one on
And keep it until the day is gone.
You don’t know what this deed
Could do for a friend in need.
It might save them from the pain
Of a sadness they cannot contain.
Don’t ask what a smile can do
Because I’m sure it once helped you.

21. My Valentine Friend

Valentine’s Day reminds me
how meaningful my feelings are for you.
You have a special place in my world
that no one else could fill.
Out of your overflowing heart,
you add color and light to my life.
You continually cross my mind,
like a precious dose of sunshine,
lighting me up inside–
as I think of you
and the lasting memories
we have created together.
No Valentine gift
is as precious to me
as you are,
my Valentine friend.

22. To me, fair friend, you never can be old (Sonnet 104)

To me, fair friend, you never can be old,
For as you were when first your eye I ey’d,
Such seems your beauty still. Three winters cold,
Have from the forests shook three summers’ pride,
Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn’d,
In process of the seasons have I seen,
Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burn’d,
Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green.
Ah! yet doth beauty like a dial-hand,
Steal from his figure, and no pace perceiv’d;
So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand,
Hath motion, and mine eye may be deceiv’d:
For fear of which, hear this thou age unbred:
Ere you were born was beauty’s summer dead.

By William Shakespeare

23. Helping Hand

A friend is a person
to laugh and cry with,
An inspiration,
Someone who lends a helping hand,
though friends may not be forever,
And they may not end up together,
the memories of a true friendship will last forever.
A friend is not a shadow nor a servant But someone who hold
a piece of a person in his heart.
Someone who shares a smile,
Someone who brightens up your day
What makes a person a friend?
Is by saying your Love will stay

Valentine’s Poetry

Here’s some pretty neutral Valentines day poems for friends you’ll be able to hand off for Galentine’s Day.

26. Value

The best of friends,
Can change a frown,
Into a smile,
when you feel down.
The best of friends,
Will understand,
Your little trials,
And lend a hand.
The best of friends,
Will always share,
Your secret dreams,
Because they care.
The best of friends,
Worth more than gold,
Give all the love,
A heart can hold.

27. Feel-Good Valentine

Valentine, I feel so good
Each time that we’re together.
We’re similar souls in harmony,
Birds of a kindred feather.

Our hearts sing to the same sweet tune;
Our compatible minds align;
Could you, would you, pretty please,
Be my Valentine?

28. “‘Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’ ― C.S. Lewis. Nailed it. Happy V-Day, fellow weirdo.”

29. “‘Friendship is like peeing in your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warm feeling inside.’ — Unknown. Happy Valentine’s Day to the person who makes me actually pee my pants with laughter.”

30. “‘Life is an awful, ugly place to not have a best friend.’ — Sarah Dessen. Especially on Valentine’s Day. Fortunately I got you, boo!”

31. “It’s Valentine’s Day so I wrote you a poem: Dearest bestie, roses are red, Violets are blue…. let’s get drunk.” Simple enough.

Maybe the best part of Valentine’s day is shopping all the discount chocolate you can find at the local grocery store the next day. Even if you had the most magical evening with your love, finding the candy and flowers for a little extra fun is the best.

As you make plans for the week, you’re probably thinking about all of the people you love. I tend to get Valentine’s day cards from my mother AND my grandmother. If you need a little something for the friends in your life that make life so sweet, these Valentine’s day poems for friends are likely just what you’re looking for.

My friends are my world, and there’s no one else (currently) that I would rather spend the holiday with. Brotherly love is the strongest and most beautiful form of love so I want my friends to know just how much they mean to me!

Need some candy poems to accompany the candy Valentines you’re handing out? Here are 21!
